Located in Houston’s bustling West University area, Winnie Couture is surrounded by some of the city’s finest boutiques and restaurants. Known for implacably hand-crafted gowns, Winnie’s collection has captured the attention of brides and celebrities alike. Our Houston team sat down with us to explain what it is that makes Winnie stand out and how they provide that one-of-a-kind experience to each and every bride.
What is a trend that you and your brides are loving right now?
Brides are loving all things bohemian and glamorous! We are seeing a lot of bigger lace patterns, low back lines, illusion pieces in gowns and intricate beading.
Do you have a favorite wedding gown?
My favorite wedding gown is tied between Avalynn, Gemini, and Stefanie! With so many options, I have a hard time deciding, but this is what I love about Winnie, I could customize different pieces of each gown into one!
What makes Winnie stand out from other bridal salons in Houston?
The fabric, beading, and materials used in all of her dresses. It is really incomparable with other designers and brands. The structure and fit of each gown are so effortless and were really designed with a woman’s figure in mind. Also, the friendly and inviting environment tied with an amazing and unique experience really helps us to stand out.
What do you love most about working in bridal?
I love being a part of the most special moment in that bride’s life. It is such an extraordinary feeling being able to help a bride find or create her dream dress!
What is your best memory of being a bridal stylist so far?
My best memory was helping a bride who had been to every salon in three different cities. We were her last stop, and she felt so defeated that she hadn’t found her dress yet. She really wanted to feel and look like a bride and wanted something unique. We had tried on a few gowns, and we decided to pull a “wild card” and she fell in love! She literally dropped to the floor when she saw herself in the mirror in one of our gowns and knew it was the one!!
What is the biggest piece of advice you could offer to brides just starting out on their wedding dress search?
I think the best advice I can give is to make sure you start planning early, especially when it comes to finding your gown. The industry standard to receive a custom ordered gown is six months, then you’ll want to have time for alterations. It’s never too early to start shopping! Also, don’t over shop. So many of our brides find their dream dress at their first appointment.
